Sign up at superhuman.com. Superhuman works with Gmail and Outlook. You'll need an invitation or paid account to access it.
Download the desktop app (Mac or Windows) or use the web version. There's also a mobile app for iOS and Android.
Superhuman will walk you through an onboarding session. You'll learn keyboard shortcuts - this is how you use Superhuman fast. No mouse required.
Your inbox loads. Hit E to archive an email, R to reply, or Cmd+K to search. Everything's designed to keep your hands on the keyboard.
Start clearing your inbox. Superhuman is built for speed - you'll process emails 2-3x faster than you did in regular Gmail once you learn the shortcuts.
Key Features That Save Time
Split inbox: Superhuman separates important emails (from people you email often or VIPs you flag) from everything else. You clear the important stuff first, then batch-process the rest.
Snippets: Save email templates for replies you send all the time. Type a shortcut (like ;meeting) and it expands into your full meeting invite template. Saves you from retyping the same thing 10 times a day.
Reminders: Hit H on any email to "snooze" it. It disappears from your inbox and pops back up at the time you set (tomorrow morning, next Monday, etc.). Great for emails you can't deal with right now but don't want to forget.
Send later: Write an email now, schedule it to send at 8:00 AM tomorrow. Looks like you're up early when really you wrote it at midnight.
Keyboard Shortcuts to Learn First
E - Archive (get it out of your inbox)
R - Reply
Cmd+K - Search (find any email instantly)
H - Remind me later
Cmd+Shift+E - Archive all (clear out junk in one move)
J/K - Move up and down your inbox (no mouse needed)
Pro Tips
Set up AI autocomplete. Superhuman's AI suggests full sentence completions as you type. Hit Tab to accept them. It learns your writing style and saves you from typing repetitive phrases.
Use "Done" view to see what you accomplished. At the end of the day, check how many emails you cleared. It's weirdly satisfying and keeps you motivated to stay on top of things.
Combine with Superhuman's other tools (Grammarly, Coda, Go). Superhuman now includes AI-powered writing help, team docs, and an assistant that works across all your apps - not just email.
What It's NOT Good For
People who don't want to learn shortcuts. Superhuman is fast if you use the keyboard. If you prefer clicking around with a mouse, it won't feel much different from Gmail.
Free email users. Superhuman isn't cheap - it's a premium tool for people who live in their inbox and need to move fast. If you only get 10 emails a day, it's overkill.
