How To Use Resemble AI
Getting Started (3 minutes)
- Sign up at resemble.ai and choose between their Text-to-Speech API or their Voice Cloning service. TTS uses pre-built voices. Voice cloning creates a custom AI version of your own voice.
- For voice cloning, upload 5-10 minutes of clear audio recordings of yourself speaking. Resemble trains a model on your voice in about 10 minutes.
- Once your voice is ready, type any text into the platform and hit Generate. You'll get an audio file that sounds like you, saying whatever you typed.
- For text-to-speech without cloning, pick a voice from their library, paste your script, and generate. You can adjust speed, pitch, and add pauses using their editor.
- Download your audio file or integrate Resemble's API into your app if you're a developer building voice features.
When Voice Cloning Makes Sense
Resemble is built for creators and businesses who need consistent voice at scale:
- YouTube creators - Record your voice once and use it for intros, outros, or even full videos without re-recording every single script.
- Audiobook authors - Narrate your own book without spending weeks in a recording booth. Generate chapters in your cloned voice and edit as needed.
- Global teams - Clone your voice and translate it into other languages. Your AI voice can speak Spanish, French, or Japanese while still sounding like you.
- Developers - Build voice assistants, chatbots, or apps that need realistic speech without licensing expensive voice actors.
Pro Tips
- Add emotion tags for better delivery. Resemble supports tags like [happy], [sad], or [excited] to change the emotional tone of your AI voice. Use them when flat delivery won't cut it.
- Use their watermarking feature for security. If you're worried about your voice being misused, Resemble embeds invisible watermarks into generated audio so you can prove it came from your account.
- Test your cloned voice with different scripts. Your AI voice sounds best on content similar to your training data. If you trained it on calm narration, don't expect it to nail intense, fast-paced dialogue right away.
What It's NOT Good For
- Replacing human voice actors in high-stakes projects. Resemble is great for content at scale, but if you're doing a Super Bowl ad or a Pixar movie, hire a real voice actor. AI can't match the nuance yet.
- Live, real-time conversations. Resemble generates pre-written scripts. It doesn't do real-time voice synthesis for phone calls or live events. For that, you'd need a different tool.
