How To Use Noisli
Getting Started (2 minutes)
- Go to noisli.com or download the Noisli app from the App Store or Google Play.
- You'll land on a simple interface with a grid of sound icons: rain, thunder, wind, ocean, coffee shop, train, white noise, and more.
- Click any icon to turn that sound on. Click again to turn it off. You can mix as many sounds as you want.
- Use the sliders to adjust the volume of each sound independently. Want loud rain with quiet thunder in the background? Done.
- Hit the timer icon to set a focus session (25 minutes for Pomodoro, or custom). The sounds play until the timer ends, then fade out.
- Save your mix as a preset so you don't have to rebuild it every time. Name it something like "Deep Work" or "Sleep."
Sound Mix Templates
Try these combinations - adjust volumes to taste.
- Deep focus: White noise (loud) + coffee shop (medium). Blocks out distractions without being too boring.
- Cozy work vibe: Rain (loud) + fireplace (medium) + thunder (quiet). Feels like you're in a cabin during a storm.
- Sleep mode: Ocean waves (medium) + wind (quiet). Gentle, rhythmic, no sudden noises to wake you up.
- Calm down after stress: Stream (medium) + birds (quiet) + leaves (quiet). Nature sounds are scientifically proven to lower cortisol.
Pro Tips
- Use the timer for Pomodoro sessions. Set it for 25 minutes of work, then take a 5-minute break. Noisli keeps you on track without needing another app.
- Create playlists for different tasks. One mix for writing, one for coding, one for reading. Switch between them based on what you're doing.
- Leave it running during meetings. If you're on a call from a noisy coffee shop or home with kids, Noisli in the background can mask distractions for you (not the other person - use headphones).
What It's NOT Good For
- Music lovers. Noisli is ambient sounds only - no melodies, no lyrics, no beats. If you need music to focus, try Brain.fm or a lo-fi playlist instead.
- Offline use (free version). The web version requires internet. If you want offline access, get the paid app or download the desktop version.
