How To Use The Mindfulness App

Getting Started (2 minutes)

  1. Download The Mindfulness App from the App Store or Google Play, or go to themindfulnessapp.com.
  2. Open the app and create a free account (email or sign in with Apple/Google).
  3. You'll get a 14-day free trial with full access to 500+ guided meditations, sleep stories, and courses.
  4. Start with the Beginner's Journey - a 5-day intro course that teaches you the basics of meditation (5-10 minutes per session).
  5. After your first session, explore the library: Guided Meditations (sorted by topic like stress, focus, sleep), Sleep Stories, or timed silent meditation with ambient sounds.
  6. Set a daily reminder so the app pings you at the same time every day. Consistency beats intensity.

Session Templates

Pick based on what you need right now.

  • Morning calm: "Morning Meditation" (5 minutes) - sets a grounded tone for the day. Do it before you check your phone.
  • Midday stress reset: "Breathing Space" (3 minutes) - quick stress relief when work is overwhelming. You can do this at your desk with your eyes open if needed.
  • Focus before deep work: "Focus and Concentration" meditation (10 minutes) - clears mental clutter so you can actually get into flow state.
  • Sleep preparation: Pick a Sleep Story like "The Magic Garden" or a soundscape like rain or ocean waves (30-45 minutes). Set a timer so it stops after you're asleep.

Pro Tips

  • Download sessions for offline use. Tap the download icon on any meditation. Great for flights, commutes, or anywhere without Wi-Fi.
  • Use the silent timer with bells. Once you've learned the basics, try meditating without guidance. Set the timer for 10 minutes with interval bells (optional chime at 5 minutes). No voice - just you and your breath.
  • Track your streak. The app shows how many days in a row you've meditated. Seeing that number go up is surprisingly motivating.

What It's NOT Good For

  • Instant fixes for serious mental health issues. Meditation helps with everyday stress and anxiety, but it's not therapy. If you're dealing with depression or trauma, talk to a professional.
  • Background noise while working. The meditations require active focus. If you just want ambient sound to work to, try Noisli instead.
