How To Use Mem AI
Getting Started (2 minutes)
- Go to mem.ai and click Sign up. You'll need a modern browser (Chrome, Edge, or Safari).
- Create an account with your email or Google.
- You'll land in a clean, minimal workspace. Think of Mem as a smart notepad that organizes itself.
- Click New Mem or just start typing anywhere. Write a thought, paste a link, or drop in meeting notes.
- Don't worry about folders or tags. Mem auto-links related notes in the background using AI. When you search later, it surfaces connected ideas.
- Use Mem Chat (the AI assistant) to ask questions about your notes. Try "What did I decide about the project timeline?" and it pulls from everything you've written.
Note Templates
Use these to get started.
- Meeting notes: Paste in your transcript or type quick bullets: decisions made, action items, follow-up questions. Mem will auto-link to related past meetings.
- Project scratch pad: Dump ideas, links, and rough outlines for a project. Don't organize it - just capture. When you need it later, search or ask Mem Chat.
- Knowledge base: Save articles, tutorials, or how-to's you want to remember. Paste the link or write a summary. Later, ask Mem "How do I set up that automation again?" and it finds your note.
- Daily journal: Write a quick end-of-day brain dump. What you worked on, what you learned, what you're worried about. Over time, Mem becomes a searchable archive of your thinking.
Pro Tips
- Let go of folders. Mem is designed to work without manual organization. Just write and search. The AI does the filing.
- Ask Mem Chat for summaries. If you took 20 pages of notes on a topic, ask "Summarize everything I know about [project name]." Mem condenses it into a few paragraphs.
- Use it for quick capture. Mem has a mobile app and browser extension. See an article you want to save? Clip it to Mem in one tap. It syncs everywhere.
What It's NOT Good For
- Team collaboration. Mem is personal. It's not built for shared wikis or team docs like Notion. Use it for your own thinking, not group knowledge.
- Structured databases. If you need tables, calendars, or project boards, go with Notion or Airtable. Mem is freeform notes only.
