How To Use Lavender AI
Getting Started (2 minutes)
- Go to lavender.ai and click Try Lavender for free.
- Sign up with your work email (Lavender integrates with Gmail, Outlook, and most sales tools).
- Install the browser extension or connect it to your email client. Lavender will ask for permission to read your emails - that's how it learns your writing style.
- Compose a new email in Gmail or Outlook. You'll see a Lavender sidebar pop up with a score (out of 100).
- Lavender analyzes your email in real-time: subject line strength, email length, readability, tone, and likelihood of getting a reply.
- Click on any flagged issue (like "subject line too long" or "sounds too salesy") and Lavender suggests a rewrite. Apply it or ignore it - your call.
Email Templates
Copy these - Lavender optimizes them for you.
- Cold outreach (sales): "Hi [Name], I noticed [specific detail about their company]. We help [similar companies] with [pain point]. Quick question: are you open to a 15-minute chat about [benefit]? No pitch, just curious if this is worth exploring."
- Follow-up (no reply): "Hi [Name], following up on my note from last week. I know inboxes get crazy. If this isn't a priority right now, no worries - just let me know and I'll check back in a few months."
- Referral request: "Hi [Name], I'm reaching out to [prospect] at [Company] and thought you might know them. Would you be open to a quick intro? Happy to draft the email if that helps."
- Re-engagement: "Hi [Name], it's been a while since we last talked. Wanted to check in - is [pain point] still on your radar? We've added [new feature] that might help."
Pro Tips
- Watch your Lavender score. Emails scoring 80+ get twice as many replies as emails under 50. If your draft is in the red, rewrite it before hitting send.
- Use the mobile preview. Lavender shows what your email looks like on a phone. If your paragraph is 8 lines long on mobile, break it up - nobody reads walls of text.
- Let Lavender personalize at scale. If you're sending 50 cold emails, Lavender pulls info from LinkedIn (job title, recent posts, company news) and suggests personalized openers for each one.
What It's NOT Good For
- Internal team emails. Lavender is built for sales and outbound. Your coworker doesn't care if your subject line is "optimized for open rates."
- Anything that needs a human touch. Apology emails, sensitive HR conversations, breakup texts - Lavender can't read the room. Use your judgment.
