How To Use Gamma App
Getting Started (2 minutes)
- Go to gamma.app and click Sign up for free.
- Sign in with Google, email, or your work account.
- You'll land on your workspace. Click Create new to start your first presentation.
- Choose your starting point: paste in an outline, start from a prompt ("Create a pitch deck for a coffee subscription service"), or upload an existing doc/slide deck to redesign.
- Gamma generates a full deck in about 30 seconds. Click through the slides - you can edit any text, swap images, or regenerate sections you don't like.
- When you're done, click Present to go full-screen or Share to send a link (no download needed - people view it in their browser).
Prompt Templates
Copy these - fill in your specifics.
- Pitch deck: "Create a 10-slide investor pitch deck for [your product/service]. Include problem, solution, market size, business model, traction, team, and ask. Keep it visual and concise."
- Training presentation: "Build a 15-slide training deck on [topic] for [audience]. Include an overview, step-by-step instructions with screenshots, common mistakes, and a quiz at the end."
- Report summary: "Turn this quarterly report into a 5-slide executive summary with key metrics, wins, challenges, and next quarter priorities. [paste report text]"
- Workshop agenda: "Create an interactive workshop deck for [topic]. Include icebreaker, 3 activities with instructions, discussion prompts, and a wrap-up slide."
Pro Tips
- Start with an outline, not a blank slate. Gamma works best when you give it structure. Paste in bullet points or a rough outline - it fills in the gaps and makes it look polished.
- Use the AI image generator for custom visuals. Instead of hunting for stock photos, describe what you want ("minimalist illustration of team collaboration") and Gamma creates it on the spot.
- Embed live content. You can drop in charts from Google Sheets, videos, forms, or websites directly into slides. No more "let me pull up another tab."
What It's NOT Good For
- Highly technical slides with custom charts. Gamma is built for speed and visuals, not intricate data visualization. If you need pixel-perfect graphs, stick with Google Slides or PowerPoint.
- Offline presentations. It's web-based, so you need internet to present. You can export to PDF, but you lose the interactive elements.
