How To Use Copy.ai

Getting Started (2 minutes)

  1. Go to copy.ai and sign up free with email or Google.
  2. You land in a chat interface with access to multiple AI models (OpenAI, Anthropic, and Gemini) , you can switch between them.
  3. Type a marketing request: "Write me 5 subject lines for a promotional email about [product]." You'll get results in seconds.
  4. Explore Workflows in the sidebar , these are pre-built automation sequences that chain multiple AI steps together (research ? outline ? draft ? format).

Prompt Templates

  • Email subject lines: "Write 10 email subject lines for a [type] promotion. Target audience: [description]. Tone: [casual or professional]. Include at least 2 with numbers and 2 with questions."
  • Product description: "Write a product description for [product] that highlights [key benefit]. Use sensory language. Under 100 words. End with a clear call to action."
  • Blog outline: "Create a detailed outline for a 1,500-word blog post about [topic]. Include H2s, H3s, key points under each, and a suggested meta description."
  • Social media batch: "Write 5 social media posts about [topic] , one each for LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. Match the tone and length for each platform."
  • Ad copy: "Write 3 variations of Google Ads copy for [product]. Max 30 characters for headlines, 90 for descriptions. Include the keyword [keyword]."

Pro Tips

  • Workflows are the real product. Individual chat is fine, but Workflows let you chain AI steps together , research ? outline ? draft ? format , and run the whole sequence with one click. Build a workflow once, reuse it every time.
  • Train your Brand Voice. Upload examples of your existing writing and Copy.ai learns your tone. Every output matches your style instead of sounding generic. This takes 10 minutes to set up and makes a big difference.

What It's NOT Good For

  • Solo creators on a budget. Copy.ai has shifted toward enterprise teams. The free chat is solid for quick copy, but Workflows (where the real power is) start at $1,000/month. If you're an individual, ChatGPT at $20/month handles most of the same tasks.
  • Out-of-the-box quality. Without setting up Brand Voice and adding context about your business, outputs are noticeably generic. You need to invest time upfront to get results worth using.
